Hello - Military Card

My friend Jill, who makes 300 cards a month (can you EVEN imagine?????) for charities, mentioned that a group that ships cards to military posts needed tons of cards--hello, happy birthday, thinking of you, etc.

So, I don't even come close to making as many as Jill, but thought I could make a few to give her to send off to them.

I used patterned "telephone" paper with the sentiment, "Hello" from a Hero Arts collection I have; it is bordered and die cut with a SU Rose Wonder/Rose Garden Thinlits bundle. A simple ribbon knot finishes the card. These cards need to be fairly flat and CAS.

Cards are collected and sent to military posts where there is free "Hallmark" type card area where military personnel may pick a card to send home to a friend, family or sweetheart, or another military person. They need a lot of cards, especially masculine ones.

Note:  If you would like to send cards to one of these organizations, please leave a comment asking for contact information and I will gladly forward that to you.

Happy Little Bears

Today's cards were made with a SU Bear die with coordinating dies for boys' and girls' clothing (all retired dies). I used papers that have long been in my drawer just waiting patiently for me to find them again. The first card is for my granddaughter's birthday, who turned four this month. The background piece is embossed with Cuttlebug Swiss Dots EF.  The second one will stay in my craft room until a little boy has need of it.  (Smile).

Inscribed - Isaiah 49:16

I have a friend who also makes cards, and sometimes we borrow each other's fun stamps, dies and embellishments. I borrowed her SU Penned and Painted stamp set today and made this card. It has six different inks and eight different stampings to make the impressionistic art effect.  It is cut out with a Spellbinders Deckled Rectangles die. The sentiment is from Stampabilities. A little double-looped hand tied bow finishes the card.

A Note of Thanks

Today's post is based on a template from Die Cuttin' Divas; you can find their link farther down in this post.

The die cut is from Spellbinders Lacy Ovals; the sentiment and flower stamps are retired SU stamps. The embossing folder is a Paper Studio Curls EF. Pearls in the upper right hand corner and a hand tied double-looped gingham bow add embellishments.

Tip:

If you have any two part stamps from SU or any other brand, if they have a rubber backing, it can be hard to figure out exactly how to position the second stamp. The floral stamp below has the colored part and also the black outline part. If any of you have a MISTI or comparable stamping tool (I think mine is from Hampton Arts), you can stamp the colored part first. Then cut out a piece of acrylic from packaging that you don't need any more. Place the second stamp (outline stamp used with black ink) approximately where you think it should go, and put the acrylic piece down over the colored stamp part, and stamp with black ink on the acrylic piece. If the stamp is where you like it, go ahead and stamp the outline on the colored piece. If it is not, adjust the colored piece so that it lines up well with the acrylic piece you have just stamped; then remove the acrylic piece and make your final stamp.
