Cardmaking Galore

Good Morning, Fellow Crafters,

If you are like me, you are spending a lot of time creating in your craft rooms. Making lots and lots and lots of cards...

If you are doing the same and have more than enough to meet your needs, you might consider donating them to your favorite charities. The ones I love are FaithHouseAfrica.org and TheSource.org. These are charities that help women and set them on the right path for life.

Today's card is a birthday card using the new fad, paper braiding. You can find templates online for this on youtube.com among other places. It was fun trying something new, and the end result is very unique.

After doing the paper braiding, I stamped a piece of white cardstock with a Just Rite Grand Sentiments stamp that I've had for about 5 years, embellished it with Joy Crafts Fantasy Butterflies and used an EK Success five petal flower punch. Do you ever make punches or embellishments that you don't use and you just put aside to use later? sometimes they are put away and forgotten for months! But this time I took them out to use on this card; the middle of the flowers are accented with melted perler beads ordered from Amazon. The card is finished with red ribbon and a double looped bow.

Here's the card:

Romans 10:9-11
9 If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by confessing with your mouth that you are saved.

Acts 13:38-39
38 "Brothers, listen! We are here to proclaim that through this man Jesus there is forgiveness for your sins. 39 Everyone who believes in him is declared right with God—something the law of Moses could never do.  NLT

A Simple Prayer for Salvation:

O, God!  I know that I am a sinner. I thank You that Jesus Christ, Your Holy Son, was born of a virgin, came and lived a sinless life here on earth, and died on the cross as a sinless sacrifice for my sin. He is no longer dead, but rose from the dead and is seated at the right hand of God the Father Almighty. I accept His atonement for every sin I have ever committed and receive Your salvation. I put all of my trust in Jesus Christ of Nazareth and receive Him as Lord of my life from this moment on. Thank You Father God for this grace given to me.

Easter Cards

I wanted to make a couple of Easter cards for some special people and thought it would be a good idea to do it now, as time tends to creep up on us.

I started by spraying a sheet of white cardstock with gold paint, and then with gold glitter spray. This is an alternative to buying gold paper at the craft store. Both of these cards are essentially the same except for the Cross diecut.  The background is layered white onto the gold sprayed paper and embossed with Darice Curls EF. Sizzix oval dies frame the crosses, which are from the Spellbinders Cross 2 set. After layering the bases and the ovals and crosses, the whole piece was sprayed with silver glitter spray; my iPhone did not pick up the sparkle very well, but it does glimmer and shine. The rose is from Dienamics Hybrid Heritage Rose, and it is embellished with Glossy Accents. The four corners of the cards and the center of the roses are accented with gold half pearls.

Acetate and Vellum

Today I am posting a card that took me out of the box.

Remember the packaging your dies and other tools come in?  Well, I always keep the acetate packaging because it is a lot of fun to use on cards. I used the acetate packaging from a Spellbinders die set and ran it through a Darice Cherry Blossom embossing folder; then I used a brayer to ink the raised pattern with white ink.

I tried all sorts of adhesives that just didn't work; after each failed attempt I used Goo Gone to get rid of the adhesive that didn't work. Finally I just used a spray adhesive and that worked better than anything else I had tried. It is adhered to a matte silver paper background.  The butterfly is cut in two layers:  one with silver patterned paper (this was from an old Tim Holtz silver card set that I just had to have years ago, but never used). The back side of the TH card is the silver backing for the acetate, and the front embossed side of the card I die cut with a Memory Box Darla Butterfly die; the same die was used to cut a vellum piece that is adhered on top of the base butterfly. The body of the butterfly is glittered with silver.

The sentiment is from a Tiny Sentiments SU bundle which I have had for three or four years (it may be retired by now...); again, a silver paper is on bottom and the top vellum layer is stamped and heat embossed with silver embossing powder.

Colorful Thank You Card

I was going through some patterned papers yesterday and figured I should use some more of them up. This paper had a lot of bright colors (which I like!) so I shuffled through my solid papers to see what would match.

The stamp is one that I've had for five or six years. It's been sitting on the shelf feeling all lonely, so I pulled it out; it's stamped with pink ink, heat embossed and it's cut out with a 1 1/4 inch scalloped punch; the hot pink backing is from Spellbinders Piqued Circles; yellow circle is from a 2" punch and the blue backing is from Sizzix Stitched Circles.  A gold bow is added for embellishment.

Monochromatic Green

Hello, Crafters,

I made a quick card this afternoon using a green patterned paper, solid green cardstock, retired SU stamps and inks, clear embossing powder and a very narrow green ribbon. Some small green half pearls were also used for more embellishment. Also used were Sizzix oval framelits.
