O Holy Night

Today's card is especially made using Diane's Daydream Designs paper and sentiment. I think she did an exceptional job of creating non-traditional colors into a very pleasing combination.

I used the following in making this card:

This card is extra special because it is going to a lady who has moved to Saudia Arabia. She will be able to send Christmas cards to her friends this year. The guidelines were to use an EF, have only one embellishment and a sentiment. For me, this was a challenge because I really like to pile on the embellishments, especially for Christmas cards.

Here it is:

Here is a closeup of the embellishment:

Wise Men Still Seek Him

The Christmas card posted today is made by using a new die from Tattered Lace called Three Kings. This is the first TL die I have ever gotten because they are super expensive, but the intricacy in these dies is unparalleled. They cut as three separate images; they were so large that they needed to be layered one on top of another.

The sky is a darker purple and is glittered with SU Diamond Glitter and Martha Stewart Course Clear Glitter, which resembles snowflakes. The sentiment is from Sweet 'n' Sassy Stamps and is heat embossed with gold embossing powder.

Here is the card:

This shows more of the glittery snow and the detail in the die cuts:

Peace on Earth

This Christmas card was so much fun to make, and new tools were used, which made it even more enjoyable. I used a new stencil and dabbed it with Versamark Ink over a piece of black cardstock, then sprinkled it with pewter embossing powder and heat embossed it. To make it really sparkle, I sprinkled it first with fine Diamond glitter, then sprayed it with glue again and sprinkled it with coarse clear glitter. This really gave it the appearance of snow falling.

The sentiment was also heat embossed and die cut, then put on the background with pop dots. It was also treated twice with the same glitters a the background. A silver ribbon with a double looped bow finished the card.

I used these in making the card:

  • The Craft Workshop Aspen Trees Stencil
  • Versamark Ink
  • Pewter Embossing Powder
  • SU Peace Stamp
  • Spellbinders Labels 18
  • SU Diamond Glitter
  • Martha Stewart Coarse Clear Glitter
  • Silver Ribbon

Here it is:

This shows the glitter better:

Unto Us a Child Is Born

Today's card is using images, a sentiment and paper from Diane's Daydream Designs.

These were used:

When a digi is pre-colored, that is a huge blessing for me, because #1 I really don't enjoy coloring images, and #2 She does them so beautifully, that I could never make them look that good!

A Very Golden Thank You

Today I was attempting to clean up and organize my craft room.

Oh, my! I have hundreds of die cut and punched images that have just hibernated in there. I would cut something out and then decide not to use it and put it aside knowing that some day it would come in handy. Well, I should use them! And that is just what this card is made from -- previously prepared elements that were begging to be assembled into something that would look good. The only thing that is new is the bow, which I made using my fingers. (You can see a tutorial on how to do this at http://homespuncards.blogspot.com/2014/08/quote-from-st-patrick-and-bow-tutorial.html.

I wish I could remember the name of the EF used to make the background, but it was so long ago. I looked through my stash and could not find it. (It is in there somewhere, though!) The flower is Memory Box Lovely Peony and Lovely Peony Outline; the foliage is Cheery Lynn Mini Fanciful Flourish; the sentiment is printed from my computer and punched out with a 1 1/4" scalloped circle punch. There are two kinds of ribbon used on the card, both from my stash. Copious amounts of white and gold glitter were used, and the background was inked with gold ink.

So there you have it. I have enough pre-cut elements in my stash so that it may be a long time before I make anything new. Just kidding! But they do need to be used up.  (smile)

Here is the card:

Christmas Candle and Poinsettia

Today's Christmas card was a lot of fun to make; the main pieces were from Diane's Daydream Design, using her papers and a colorful digi from her store. These background papers add to a certain "down home" feeling for the card, like you were in a country setting with warm, loving family members. I do hope you will check out her store; she has some delightful things there.

:o)

I added some interest to the background gingham piece by running it through an EF.

These were used to make the card:
And here is the card:

This is the embossed gingham background. The pattern is indistinguishable, but you can tell that it adds texture and interest.

Joy and Music

Another Christmas card!

Woohoo! Those of us who have been working on these since we last mailed our cards out in December know that slow and steady wins the race when it comes to getting enough Christmas cards done before time to mail them out again. It is so much easier when they build up gradually, than to feel rushed at the last minute. When I feel rushed, not only do I not do a very good job of card making, but all the joy is gone from it because of having the stress of finishing on time.

That's my story and I'm stickin' with it!

So today's card is made from a pretty musical, very wide fabric ribbon found at Joann's. It is the background for the rest of the card. On top of that is a double-looped wire-rimmed red and silver glittered bow, a sentiment by Sweet 'n' Sassy (Jesus Is Born set), die cuts from Spellbinders Deckled Rectangles, and a holly sprig cut from the Teresa Collins December 25th Cricut cartridge. With this cut, I used some paper that I didn't like very much, and after it was cut, it was spray-painted green, then sprayed with silver glitter mist. The berries on the holly are made with Viva Red Liquid Pearls.

Here is the card:

Holly leaves are lightly sprayed with glitter mist:
