New EF from Anna Griffin Came in the Mail!

This week I got a set of Anna Griffin embossing folders in the mail and was chomping at the bit to use them. This one is the 5" x 7" Calligraphy frame with the "Happy Birthday to You" inset. The paper was run through the folder, then sanded to make the pattern more prominent. Then it was sprayed with Krylon Diamond Dust Glitter Spray. The raised sentiment was lightly dabbed with pale blue ink to make it show up better. The butterfly is from a Frantic Stamper Monarch Butterfly die and is embellished with Viva Liquid Pearls. The flowers are stamped with SU Flower Shop stamps in three different colored inks and punched with the coordinating Pansy Punch. They are curled and embellished with rhinestones. The foliage is from a die set called Creative Expressions, Fern Trio.

Christmas Shaker Card

Well, today's card took me all day! It was an experiment in what works and what does not, so after lots of trial and error, it is finished. I got the picture in the window on the internet and put a piece of transparency under the window die to resemble a glass window. It is hard to see in the picture. The window is from a Madison Window die (PoppyStamps, I think). The basic "wall paper" of the room is glued to a darker piece of blue to give it some contrast. A picture of brown wood planks was cut into a strip for the flooring, and a white strip of cardstock was added for a floorboard molding. The window space where the shaker elements are is built up using three layers of foam sheeting under the die, and is filled with glitter, sequins and iridescent white beads.

The tree is made of individual branches punched from a Martha Stewart Pine Branch punch. They are sprayed with Krylon Diamond Glitter Mist to make them more sparkly, then the branches are adorned with ornaments made by dropping tiny liquid pearls here and there, then a star brad was added to the top of the tree. The rug is from a Microsoft clip art image which is elongated and squashed down to look more dimensionally realistic. The wall pictures were also found on Microsoft clip art and were added around the window because the scene looked like it lacked something, Finally, a little MS clip art kitty was positioned on the rug.

Turquoise Blue and Silver Floral

I really like to work with aluminum foil, as many of you may know if you have followed some of my postings. Foil can do so many nice things, particularly when embossed, which is what today's card shows. I used four layers of heavy duty aluminum foil and ran it through a new Anna Griffin Rose Hearts EF that I got a few days ago. When it came out it looked like this:

Anna Griffin has such stunningly beautiful embossing folders that I wanted to let a good part of it show up; I made a die cut using Spellbinders Floral Ribbon Threader and cut out the center of it so the background EF would show. It is spray painted with Krylon Sapphire Glitter mist to make it sparkle. The rose is Spellbinders Spiral Blossom One and the foliage is also SB, Foliage. The sentiment is stamped with a little round Hero Arts Message Circle stamp and embossed with silver embossing powder. The leaves were a bit too in-your-face green, so I stamped them with some silver ink to tone the color down. A silver bow finishes the piece.

Here is the card:

Sparkly Birthday

Today's card is for a redheaded friend. I used a dark rusty red paper and sprayed it with a bleach solution, making it speckled and splotchy with orange spots. The square die is a Spellbinders Adorning Squares cut; the rose is Spellbinders Spiral Blossom One and the leaves are from Spellbinders Foliage. The rose is also inked with gold ink on the outside edges. The whole card is sprayed with gold glitter mist and also dusted with iridescent glitter. A copper (spray painted) Tattered Lace butterfly and a gold bow finish the project.

Doily Lace and Flowers

I have been making a lot of Valentine cards; today's card has Valentine colors, but no hearts and no sentiment on the front, although the inside quotes 1 Corinthians 13:13:  "Three things will last forever--faith, hope and love--and the greatest of these is love."

I got a new Martha Stewart punch--the kind that is a pattern that can be repeated all over the page, called Crochet Flower Pattern. It makes a nice doily-like background. The flowers are from a Stampin' Up Pansy punch and the centers are adorned with liquid pearls. The foliage is from the Spellbinders Foliage Die set. It is all set on a red background.

Sweet and Simple

Today's card was pretty simple once all the elements were made. The sweet digis and sentiment were from Diane's Daydream Designs and were printed out; the cupcake was cut and framed using the Cricut Accent Essentials cartridge. It was placed on a store-bought doily from my stash and glued to a red background run through a Darice heart EF.

Just a Note

Today's card is made for someone special I have never met. It has a pink base run through a Darice heart EF, a little birdie digi (Diane's Daydream Designs) cut out with a Spellbinders Lacy Ovals die and framed with a larger die cut from the same set. Two little Tattered Lace butterflies in my stash that were cut long ago were added, and a sweet sentiment from Diane's Daydream Designs finishes the card.

Joy to the World!

Today's card is another Christmas creation using pretty gift wrapping paper. It is placed on gold paper and overlaid with two layers of gold tulle that I have had in my stash for a long time. A cross is cut from the Cricut New Testament cartridge (that was also sitting in my stash!); sentiment is from Sweet 'n' Sassy Stamps (Jesus Is Born set) and a gold bow and gold rhinestone finish the card.

Happy Valentine

Today I made another fun little valentine using digis (image and sentiment) from Diane's Daydream Designs, Spellbinder's Adorning Squares die and a ribbon bow that was in my stash.

It's cold here in Texas, and the people up north would probably laugh at us when we get chilled to the bone with our 20-40 degree weather, but for us who are not used to it, it is cold and yucky. It rained and got cold today, so it was a good day to make cards.

Here is a picture of today's happy little card:

A Little Valentine Birdie

Today's card is a little valentine using Diane Noble's darling little birdie and sentiment. Sadly, these are no longer available, but she was gracious enough to let me have a large number of them to do a project. The card below is one of the ones made for the project using her image and framing it with a frame using the Cricut Cake Basics cartridge. It is backed with a paper doily from my stash, and finished off with a little bow.
