Luke 2:11

Today's card was a challenge in a different way. The guidelines were that it must be an embossed Christmas card, and that in addition to the sentiment, it can have only ONE EMBELLISHMENT! This is because a group of us are sending Christmas cards to a lady who has moved to another country, so that she may send cards to her friends this Christmas. The restriction on embellishments is because they must fit into a flat envelope for easier shipping. Wish there could have been more splashy 3-D embellishments, but these were the rules. After the patterned paper was embossed, the raised design was inked with silver ink so that the pattern could show up better.

These were used:

Diane's Daydream Designs Elegant Snowflakes Digi Paper
Diane's Daydream Designs The Glory of Christmas Sentiment Set
Darice Crosses EF
Silver Ink
Red Ribbon
Crop-A-Dile Green Deco Chomper

Here it is:

Rejoice!

Today's very simple card is another Christmas theme featuring a giant snowflake purchased in the floral department at Hobby Lobby. It is placed on a doily that I retrieved from my plate at a local restaurant, and is placed on a simple blue patterned paper as a background. The sentiment is from Sassy Stamps (Jesus Is Born) and is cut with the Deco side of my Green Crop-A-Dile tool.A large rhinestone in the center of the snowflake produces a sparkling focal point.

Flowers and Butterflies

Today I made a card using two new tools. I recently got the Close to My Heart Artfully Sent cartridge and the Memory Box Kensington Border die. I have a lot to learn about using the Artfully Sent cartridge, but the background with cut flowers is from that cartridge. The Kensington Border die cut is sprinkled with glitter, although the picture of it really does not bring that out. The sentiment is punched with two scalloped circles and mounted on a larger white one.

Here is the card:

Let All Heaven and Earth Rejoice!

O Holy Night (2)

Today's Christmas card is made from two of Diane's Daydream Designs items from her store. I used the blue gingham paper and the "O Holy Night" sentiment, both found here:
A Paper Studio music notes EF was used to embellish the background, then it was sprinkled with sparkly Martha Stewart Clear Course Glitter. The glitter is hard to see in this photo, but if you hold the card the right way, it sparkles.  :o)  The sentiment is framed with a Spellbinders Classic Scalloped Ovals die cut. Little blue liquid pearls embellish the bottom of the sentiment frame and a simple knotted bow across the bottom finishes the card.

This Is the Day

Today is World Cardmaking Day. Wow--I have been a very busy girl.

The card on this post was made with another new set from Diane's Daydream Designs, and is just right for fall, very whimsical, and just cute as a button! You'll have to go check it out for yourself. It is made for a red headed friend of mine who loves to dress in fall colors, and who loves animals.  :o)

I glittered up the larger backing label for the image and sentiment with some Martha Stewart copper colored glitter, then I just barely glittered the main image and sentiment, so as not to cover the cute little hedgehog or the words. I wish my camera would show how sparkly the glitter is, but it seems to automatically edit out the bright glow of the glitter. You'll have to use your excellent imagination to picture the glitter effect.

These were used in making the card:

Diane's Daydream Designs Hedgehog Fall Frolics Set
Spellbinders Labels Twenty-Three
Stampin' Up Button Brads
Martha Stewart Copper Glitter

His Birth Wrought a Miracle

I love the new Daydream Designs papers and sentiments for Christmas. Diane seems to have so many absolutely gorgeous items in her store, that it is so much fun to put them together, especially during this Christmas season with all her many choices to choose from on her site. I do hope you'll check them out.

This card was a LOT of fun, and don't you love to make Christmas cards with non-traditional colors? It seems to add a bit of pizzazz to the enjoyment.

This is what I used to make the card:
  • Diane's Daydream Designs Celebrating Christ Sentiments
  • Diane's Daydream Designs Winter Wonderland Papers
  • Spellbinders Labels Twenty-Two
  • Memory Box Pine Needle Border Die
  • Paper Studio Curl Ribbon EF
  • Blue and White Polka Dot Grosgrain Ribbon
  • Pop Dots
  • Four Layers of Heavy Duty Aluminum Foil

The Greatest Gift

Another Christmas card today. I have pretty much made enough for my own personal use, and have asked a friend who volunteers at a nursing home how many she might need for the residents. That probably means a lot more to make, but it is an opportunity to remind those precious people that Christ Jesus is the Savior and that His birth, which we celebrate at Christmas, is the beginning of His mission to live, die and be resurrected for our salvation. I never want to miss that opportunity with any of my Christmas cards.

I used a Sweet 'n' Sassy stamp from the Christ Is Born set for the sentiment and die cut it out with a Spellbinders Our Daily Bread Designs Vintage Flourish Patterns die. The background is a white paper embossed with a Paper Studio "Holly" EF, then brayed with green ink. The holly berries were colored red with Viva Red Liquid Pearls. A red bow finished the card.
