The Old Rugged Cross

Today's card was a lot of fun to make, and it was made for a sweet woman pastor friend of mine for her birthday. I scanned the Old Rugged Cross hymn from an old hymnal I have had for years and used it as an image for the card. My friend's house is decorated in blue and yellow, so this is the color palate that was used.

These tools were used:

Spellbinders:  Spiral Blossom One and Foliage dies
Sue Wilson:  Trailing Ivy die
EK Success:  Five Petal Flower and Butterfly punches
Half Pearls
Ribbon

Spring Has Sprung

Today's card is a fun reminder that spring is coming. In my part of the country, flowering trees can  be seen everywhere, but for those farther north, maybe these "springy" challenges will remind you that lovely weather and beautiful flowers are on the way. The  background paper is a spring scene that came with a Tattered Lace magazine that I have had for a long time, maybe as long as two years. The sentiment is from a used Stampin' Up stamp sale that I got a couple of years ago. Never had used it. Butterfly is from Tattered Lace and the ovals are from Spellbinders Lacy Ovals. The butterfly has a small pale mint green half pearl in the center.

Going Green

If you remember from the last few blogposts, I mentioned that I went on a craft spending binge in February; (really can't do that again for a long, long time!). The Ornate Octagon die is one of those purchases, and the Trailing Ivy die is also very new. Still have some wonderful new things to try out in future posts.  :o)

I don't usually use a lot of green in making cards, but today's card was an exception; I had this lovely green SU leafy background paper that has lots of different shades of green, and since it is March, we are seeing a lot of green cards. You can't tell by looking at the picture, but the butterfly is generously doused with white/iridescent glitter.

These were also used:

Sue Wilson Trailing Ivy; Ornate Octagons
Spellbinders Wonderful Wings
Cuttlebug Mini EF backed by
EK Success 1 1/2" Scalloped Punch
Loose Glitter
Half Pearls
