White on White Sympathy Card

On Christmas Eve a dear friend of mine graduated to her eternal home with Jesus. She was a remarkable woman, full of faith, grace and courage, looking to Jesus, the Author and Finisher of her faith.

I put this insert into the card, sent to her sister, Joy:

A Picture of Robin

Joy, there is significance in the construction of this card made especially for you; it reflects some of the precious attributes that Robin carried.

·        White is for the purity of her heart, made clean by the shed blood of Jesus…

·        The embossed background represents the pressures of her life which made a lasting, beautiful impression on her soul of God’s handiwork in her life; there was no bitterness for the challenges she faced, but joy and forgiveness…

·        The lace represents her loveliness as a woman…

·        The glitter reminds me of God’s glory, which she always carried…

·        The flower is for the Secret Garden within her where she and Christ met for constant communion…

·        The butterflies are a reminder that Robin was a very, very free spirit, and that she has all freedom now…

·        And finally, the pearls represent Jesus, the Pearl of Great Price; she left everything she had to lay hold of Him (Matthew 13:45-46).

May this little card always remind you of Robin’s grace and courage.

Psalm 139:17

Since Christmas is only two days away, I have pulled back a bit from making Christmas cards; time for a break from that and time to go into my stash of dies and papers to make an all purpose card; could be for a birthday or a get well greeting, or a "just because" surprise for someone.

Here is what was used to make it:

  • Spellbinders Scalloped Borders Three; Labels Eighteen
  • Martha Stewart Large Branch Punch
  • String Pearls
  • Joy Fantasy Butterfly Dies
  • Memory Box Fabulous Phlox Die
  • Cuttlebug Swiss Dots EF
  • Sentiment printed from my computer

A Rosy Birthday Card

Today's card is a departure from Christmas creations. I just needed to do something else, since for the last few months it has been only Christmas cards.

The blue and white paper is shelf liner from the dollar store; foliage is Lorelai Leaf and Lorelai Leaf Cutout dies using four layers of aluminum foil. The flowers are from Spellbinders:  Bitty Blossoms and Spiral Rose One, and the roses are glittered for extra interest; wish the sparkle showed up better! The border punch is from Martha Stewart. Sentiment is from Stampin' Up, which was hand cut out with scissors.  Blue and silver ribbon and a double looped bow finish the card.

Thank You Card with Peals and Lace

Today's card is one I made four of to thank some precious ladies who gave their time and effort to make a Christmas concert wonderful. I used a black and white theme, but wanted most of it to be white; too much black is a bit depressing. I used some wrapping paper from last year's gifts that was too pretty to throw away, and also, some black and white shelf liner that I got at the dollar store. The nice thing about the shelf liner is that it has adhesive on the back, and all I had to do was to peel off the paper on the back--no added adhesive was needed!

These were used to make the card:

Anna Griffin Foulard EF
Spellbinders A2 Floral Ribbon Threader
Hero Arts "Thank You" Stamp
String Pearls
Lace
Wrapping Paper
Shelf Liner

A Savior Which Is Christ the Lord

Good Morning, Crafters!

Are you getting ready for Christmas? How much more do you need to do to get all those Christmas cards finished?

Today's card is CAS, one that was quick and easy to make. The background paper and the sentiment were created by Diane Noble, who is a DT member at Word Art Wednesday.  She is such a gifted artist! I love the unexpected, nontraditional brown color she used for this delightful snowflake/music pattern.

The sentiment is die cut with Spellbinders Deckled Rectangles; red Viva Liquid Pearls were added, along with a double-looped red and white gingham bow.

Here it is:

The Greatest Gift is Jesus

Today's Christmas card highlights an image that I got from the internet; it was a free image, not one that is bought from a site. One reason it was chosen is that it is pre-colored with beautiful shading; another reason is that it conveys the feeling of innocence, sweetness and humility. It is diecut with Spellbinders Deckled Rectangles and matted in pink, aqua and gold. The sentiment is from Sweet 'n' Sassy Stamps and is punched out with an EK Success scalloped punch. A hand-tied bow finishes the card:

Names of Jesus with Twig Wreath

Today's CAS Christmas card reminds us of many of the wonderful names of Christ our Lord. The brown matting and twig wreath give it a rustic feel, reminding us of the humanity of Jesus: fully God and fully man.

These were used to make the card:
  • Impression Obsession Twig Wreath
  • Our Daily Bread Designs Chalkboard Word Collage Stamp
  • Silver Viva Liquid Pearls
  • Silver and Blue Ribbon
  • White Ink

Window View of the Shepherds

Today's Christmas card is a look through the window at the shepherds, who 2000 years ago saw a star in the night sky that led them to Bethlehem where the Christ Child was born.

  • Christmas Wrapping Paper (the shepherd window scene)
  • Sweet and Sassy Christmas Sentiment Stamp
  • Martha Stewart Pine Branch Punch
  • Gold Ribbon
  • VersaMark Embossing Ink
  • Gold Embossing Powder
  • Heat Gun

Red and Green

Today's card was created using a base card from Anna Griffin's Christmas collection. I ordered the pop up card set, but only made one that popped up because it seemed difficult to make the card in a way that looked good to me. So, I am using a lot of her card bases to make regular Christmas cards.

A red cardstock inset was cut to fit in the frame on the base card, then a punched sentiment from Diane Noble, who is a DT member of Word Art Wednesday, was placed in the red square with pop dots. The star is cut from the Cricut December 25th cartridge, heat embossed with gold embossing ink, and embellished with a rhinestone in the center of it. Gold glitter is added; if you hold the card just right, a burst of gold shines and adds a festive feel. A red and white double-looped gingham bow finishes the card.

Here it is:

Silent Night

Have you made all your Christmas cards yet? I am so appreciative of the many blogs which encourage us to make them throughout the year, and for the "Anything Goes" challenges, too. They have made it fun and easy to prepare for the day when we mail out all those beautiful Christmas creations.

Today's card is a break from traditional colors; I have used a lavender/purple cardstock and have stamped and heat embossed the scene from Luke 2:1-16 where the shepherds see the Bethlehem star and go to the stable where King Jesus lies in the manger. I used the Hero Arts Nativity stamp and embossed it with silver embossing powder. The embellishment at the top is from Joann's; the star is accentuated with a rhinestone, and a silver double-looped bow at the top finishes the card.
