Black and White Birthday

Today's card was made for an extra extra extra special friend whose birthday was yesterday. I took it to her a couple of days early because I just couldn't wait to give it to her. As it turns out, she was feeling sick and yucky on her birthday and is still recovering, so prayers are going up for her to feel better soon.

I stitched around the white layer with a pattern that my sewing machine makes and rounded the corners with my corner rounder punch. The flower punches are from Stampin' Up, Flower Shop stamp set, Pansy Punch and two other SU punches that most likely are discontinued. The foliage is from a Martha Stewart Branch punch. The sentiment stamp I think I got in a bin at a bargain store, and it has no writing on the wood base to indicate who makes it.  Centers of the flowers are embellished with liquid pearls, and the foliage is heavily glittered, although my camera does not show this up very well.

Just so you know, the image shows up as having yellowish or pinkish shadows on my monitor, but none of these colors actually are on the card. The "black" part of the card is actually a dark charcoal grey, which does not show up very dark in the picture.

Thinking of You

Today's card is another "all purpose" one that I made for a friend. I used We Are Memory Keepers Antique Doily die; Memory Box Vivienne Butterfly die; Stampin' Up Teeny Tiny Wishes sentiment stamp. The oval die used on the sentiment is from a "no name" cheapie set purchased on Amazon, made in China. The butterfly is adorned with half pearls, as well as three half pearls sprinkled on the bottom portion of the card.

Lots of glitter on the doily!

You're Simply Amazing!

I had some fun yesterday making a card that can be used for any occasion.  The paper was from my stash, and I think I got it at Hobby Lobby several months ago. The stamp is from Hobby Lobby (Printwork Collection, F4270); the dies are from Stampin' Up:  Botanical Builder Framelits and Stitched Circle dies. The outer circle die is from Spellbinders Scalloped Circles. Glitter was used to accent the flowers and leaves. A Viva liquid pearl accents the center of  the flower.

Happy 50th Anniversary!

Good Morning, Crafters!

I can't believe it's been almost a month since my last post, but Harvey has changed a lot of things here in Texas, and some priorities have come before posting on my blog.

My sweet friend asked me to make a 50th Anniversary card for her to give to her husband (such a sweet couple!).  I thought a lot about its construction; most cards I looked at for ideas were those that someone else would send to the couple, so it took a bit of contemplation to come up with this card.

The base over the gold layer is a Stampin' Up Happy Heart EF which was highlighted with gold ink; also used were Spellbinders Ribbon Banners and Vines of Passion dies. I found some lovely gold and white patterned paper in my stash that added some pizzaz!  :o)  The trim at the bottom of the card came on a roll that I found at Michael's.

Money Can't Buy Happiness

I can't believe it has been so long since I last posted a card. Harvey (the hurricane) swept through our area and devastated the homes of so many; lives have been severely impacted, and we are still in the middle of rebuilding and working by the grace of God to come to a new normal.

My card-making friend and I have taken on a new hospital for children in our area and have committed to making up to 125 cards a month, plus prayer cards that will be hung on a tree in their chapel. Lots of work, and we decided to not have duplicate cards during the month. So, I need to get busy. There will be other card makers contributing from throughout the country, so the challenge is not ours alone. If you would like to contribute either birthday or general uplifting cards to the cause, please leave a message below.

So, I have made a card using a SU set called Sprinkles of Life and a Darice EF called Swirls Background. I used an unnamed cloud die to cut the top of the cupcake with a multicolored dotted paper to resemble sprinkles on the frosting. The text reads, "Money can't buy happiness... but it can buy cupcakes. And that's kind of the same thing." Wish I could have gotten the colors more vibrant, but this is the best my iPhone could do.

Pop-Up Birthday

Don't be surprised if you have not heard from many of us here in Texas lately. We've had some pretty intense challenges, but the outpouring of love from volunteers coming from near and far has been so wonderful. My home is fine, but so many around me are suffering. God will get us through this.

For a long time I have not posted, but have a card to share today; it was made with a Stampin' Up Pop-Up birthday die. I ran the die through three times, each with a different colored paper. Then I cut and assembled the diecuts to make a cake with candles. The inside of the card also pops out.

Christmas - When They Saw the Star...

Today's card was fun to make because there cannot ever be too much bling!  The farthest back layer of the card was made with sparkly star paper that I got from either Michael's or Hobby Lobby (can't remember which).  The next layer, dark blue, was die cut with a Tim Holtz (Sizzix) die - three different cut out designs were in the package, but the package does not have a title on it.  :(

The Wise Men were from a discontinued Stampin' Up stamp; it was stamped, then heat embossed with silver. Did you know you don't have to use Versa Mark ink to emboss?  You can use regular ink, then quickly (before it dries) sprinkle on your embossing powder, then heat emboss.  That's what I did today because I couldn't find my Versa Mark ink.

The star was die cut out of the blue paper so that the silvery paper showed through, then another star was die cut (Stampin' Up Starlight Thinlit Dies) and pop dotted on top of it to add a little dimension.

The sentiment is from Matthew 2:1-12.
