Blue and White Birthday GBCB-015

I am entering a card challenge at Joan's Gardens this week.  We get to use blue and white, and there is a little twist this time.  Here are the requirements:

  •  Use lots of layers (more than two)
  •  Use blue and white
  •  Take a picture of this card then:
    •  Add some type of embellishment to dress it up
    •  Post a picture of both cards on your blog
  •  You must use a product sold at Joan's Gardens
  •  Also, mention that you are doing the card/project for Joan's Gardens Challenge

I had already recently made some light blue and white cards, so to shake it up a bit, this card has a darker shade of blue coupled with white.  Monochromatic cards are often so stunning, so I tried to keep with a purist monochromatic theme on this card. First I started out with white cardstock and sponged blue ink around the edges. Next is a piece of white cardstock embossed in a lattice EF; then I used a scroll punch on some scraps of blue paper and made a little bottom border on the white cardstock.  The sentiment is from a JustRite stamp set I just got from Joan, and it is backed by more blue paper. The flowers are Cheery Lynn Cuties rolled flowers.

Here is what the original card looks like:

Needs something else, doesn't it?

So, I added some white punched foliage, two more flowers and a blue bow with white polka dots, and here is the finished card:

Here are the tools used to make the card:

  • JustRite: Grand Sentiment Stamps
  • Cheery Lynn:  Cuties #4 B156; Cuties #3 B151
  • Martha Stewart: 5-Leaf Punch
  • EK Success:  Scroll Punch
  • Lifestyle Crafts: Nesting Flowers
  • Paper Studio:  Lattice Embossing Folder
  • Stash:  Blue and White Polka Dot Ribbon

You can get JustRite, Cheery Lynn and Martha Stewart products from Joan.

Thank you for stopping by my blog.  I always count it a great honor when you come and visit.  As always, God's highest and best to you today and every day.

Rich, enormous blessings,

Ginny B.
