Gold and Silver "You Make Me Smile" GBCB-003

Today I wanted to use some items that have been purchased, but never used. As it turned out, there were two new ones used because a couple of things that were tried just did not work. Seems that 90% of making a card is all mental. Picking and choosing colors, embellishments and the right sentiment that takes up the right amount of real estate on the card are all factors to be considered. So, after several tries of things that did not work, the card was finished.  :o)

The two new items I used were a thin silver ribbon bought at one of the craft stores, and a Martha Stewart "Punch around the Page" punch.

Starting out with white cardstock, a layer of silver paper was added. Then I got a piece of gold textured paper and used the Martha Stewart punch on it. Next, using Versamark ink and silver embossing powder, I put the sentiment in the middle of the "doily." and used the heat tool to emboss the powder.  So far, it looked like this:

Next I made the flowers out of gold vellum and put a little golden pearl in the middle of each one. One thing I have discovered about shaping the petals on flowers is that if you have strong fingernails (or fake ones like I have), you can curl the petals with your nails easier than using an embossing tool. Works for me, anyway....

I die cut leaves and stems and a butterfly out of aluminum foil, using about four thicknesses of the heavy duty kind. Then I placed the flowers and silver stems and leaves on with glue. Next I attached the silver bow, and last of all positioned the butterfly in the upper left hand corner of the card.

Here is the result:

And a closeup of the flowers and butterfly:

Here are the tools used to make the card:

Martha Stewart Wild Flowers "Punch around the Page" Punch
Just Rite Clear Grand Sentiments
Memory Box Fabulous Phlox, Pippi Butterfly
Cheery Lynn Mini Fanciful Flourish
Bow Easy

Romans 10:9-11
If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by confessing with your mouth that you are saved. NLT

  4. Make new friends, keep the old, one is silver and the other is gold. Four layers of heavy duty foil, here I thought you had a new way to melt silver embossing powder. The card is extremely beautiful.
Thank you for sharing your God given talents with us and posting in this week’s challenge.
