Let Every Heart Prepare Him Room

Well, this week I am entering a card at Joan's Gardens, and I am glad it is another Christmas card challenge. When it is time to send out these cards it will be fun to pick who gets what design, as all will be different.

These are the guidelines:
  • Use Ribbon
  • Use Corners
  • Anything to Do with Christmas
  • Use a product sold at Joan's Gardens
  • Mention that the card is for Joan's challenge

Starting out with white cardstock, a dark green layer was added with dimensional stickies. I embossed a white layer with a brick pattern EF and used grey ink in the debossing section of the EF to make the grout. Cutting out the shape of the window from the embossed brick layer was the next step. I found a sweet Victorian Christmas picture on the internet and used that image, making it look like we are on the outside looking in on a mother decorating the Christmas tree, and her two children playing on the floor. This layer was glued behind the brick wall layer. On top of the brick wall, I put a die cut window spray painted green, and covered the hole. I gently pulled out the windows so that they look open.

Die cut corners were spray painted red and added to two of the corners. I think they look a lot like the Victorian trim I have seen in that type of architecture. The sentiment, "Let every heart prepare Him room and Heaven and Nature sing," is punched out with a scalloped circle, then mounted on a larger dark green scalloped circle. The card is finished off with a golden bow beneath the window.

Here is the card:

This is a close up of the children:

And a closer view:

These are the tools used to make the card:

Paper Studio:  Brick EF; 1.5" Scallop Punch
Fiskars:  2" Scallop Punch
Spellbinders: Window Two
Cheery Lynn:  Lace Corners Deco A

Romans 10:9-11
If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by confessing with your mouth that you are saved. NLT
