I love making Christmas cards this time of year. It gets me in the spirit of the season, remembering that Christ is at the center of it all. Without Him there would be no Christmas.
So, this card departs from the traditional red and green colors seen so often. It is focusing on blue, silver, white and iridescent glitter glue that reflects pearly colors.
Starting out with white cardstock, another layer is added with a white piece of paper run through a Spellbinders Basket Weave EF; next, a white doily is laid on top of that, and glitter glue is put on the edges and in the center of the doily flowers. The poinsettia (Spellbinders Layered Poinsettia) is cut from white cardstock and highlighted with the same iridescent glitter glue. I recently broke a blue necklace; it wasn't expensive, but I liked the different colors of blue it reflected in the beads. When it broke, I opted to not try to re-string the beads, but to use them on cards for an extra punch of blingy color. Three of these beads make up the center of the flower for an added dramatic element. Silver leaves (floral department at the craft store) are tucked underneath the flower. The sentiment is framed in blue, and the edges are highlighted with the same glitter glue.

ReplyDeleteGinny,
ReplyDeleteWe use that scripture on our "Share Jesus" pamphlets. Your blog is always a refreshing stop. Your card is SO BEAUTIFUL. The blue bling and matte really pull everything to the centre so we can see the whole card at once. I like all the glitter. Thank you so much for posting your sweet art with us. Please know you are welcome to post up to five entries each week.
Blessings,
